This gouache and ink illustration is the result of months of contemplation on the medieval ideas of the dance and music of the spheres, and the divine order of things. Inspired largely by C.S. Lewis' 'The Discarded Image', and Edmund Spenser's 'The Faerie Queene': this, down to the colours and patterns chosen for their places, is the picture that came to my mind as I imagined the construction of the Ptolemaic universe.
